Fans and game preservationists have rallied against the decision to restrict the GTA trilogy to the Rockstar Launcher for PC customers. This was an unpopular decision made even more so by the announcement of the remasters' exclusivity to the Rockstar Games Launcher on PC. The studio prepared for the release of the GTA trilogy remasters by removing all existing versions of the three games from Steam and other digital stores, where they will be replaced by the Definitive Edition collection at launch.
